Yokohama City Postpartum Maternal and Child Care Business

In order to get used to life with the baby, midwives provide detailed support such as physical and mental care for the mother, baby care, and childcare support in a home-like facility environment. You can heal your tired body after childbirth and receive support while slowly adjusting your physical condition. At our hospital, we try to provide care so that you can continue to raise your child smoothly even after discharge. For details of the project, please also refer to the Yokohama City website.

* Those who are not eligible for the Yokohama City Postpartum Maternal and Child Care Project (such as those who live outside Yokohama City) can use postpartum stay (self-funded hospitalization). Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Who can use it?

It is available for mothers and babies under 4 months of age who meet all of the following criteria. (*Preterm infants are based on the expected date of delivery.)

  • Those who have an address in Yokohama City
  • Those who do not have a disease currently being treated (consultation is required for those who are taking medication)
  • Those who need support from public health nurses, midwives, etc.
* The welfare and health center in each ward will check the childcare status and decide whether or not to use it.

For consultation and application for the use of the Yokohama City Postpartum Maternal and Child Care Project, please contact the Child and Family Support Division of the Welfare and Health Center of your ward.

Postpartum Maternal and Child Short Stay (Hospitalization)

Available for up to 7 days
2 Days 1 Night 6,000 yen (tax included)
+3,000 yen per day thereafter (tax included)
* The user’s share is 1%. Households exempt from municipal tax can use the service without any out-of-pocket costs because there is a reduction and exemption system.

Postpartum Stay

産後ステイ

After childbirth, especially until childbirth ~ a few months of childcare gets on track, it is a very important period for the mother and child to be involved in the rest of their lives.

Spending time in a relaxed and secure manner during this period and preparing your mind and body are the foundation for a fun and healthy life on the long road of childcare. Please make good use of the "postpartum stay" at Miyashita Midwifery Hospital and start raising children in your own way.

During hospitalization, the midwife will provide breast care and massage, and will also check the physical condition of the mother and child. In addition, we will provide bathing guidance and breastfeeding guidance to support the start of childcare, and we will also tell you how to hold and various child-rearing tips.

If your schedule allows, you can participate in various classes and receive body treatments such as aroma treatments while you are in the hospital. (Fees are not included)

* If you wish to borrow your mother’s pajamas or baby’s clothes, you will be charged a rental fee (1,000 yen (tax included) / 1 day).

※Laundry service: 300 yen (tax included) / 1 time.

※You can also practice by bringing your usual nursing cushion or sling.
